I am just going to say upfront how excited I am to give you a glimpse into my life at Saint Michael's College. My name is Alexandra Byrne and I am just beginning my Freshman Year as a Psychology major here at Saint Michael's College. I am from the little town of Mamaroneck, NY, which is about 6 1/2 hours away from One Winooski Park (shows you how much I love my school!!) My passions include attending the many great Saint Mike's activities on campus, planning movie nights and ordering in Chinese with SMC friends, and while it may sound cheesy, I really most enjoy helping people, whether it be with homework, being there for a friend, or of course, answering any questions I can about Saint Mike's. I absolutely love the opportunity to reach out to others- I wouldn't be a blogger if I didn't want to help all of you prospective students out there discover what makes Saint Michael's College the best place to spend the next four years!!
I was in your shoes last year- not really knowing where I wanted to go, trying to choose the colleges I would apply to, getting ready to fill out my Common App, and not even knowing what direction I wanted to go in college. To tell you the truth, I hadn't even heard of Saint Mike's until the end of my Junior Year in high school, when I won the Saint Michael's Book Award for Scholarship and Service. I never in a million years thought I would end up in Vermont, but it was the best choice I could have ever made. When choosing a college, I just wanted a home away from home and a family atmosphere, and that is exactly what I have found here. In just the three weeks I have been at Saint Mike's, I have never felt more welcomed or encountered such amazingly genuine people.
One of the main reasons I chose Saint Michael's was because of the SMC Bloggers. They were people who were generous enough to put down their feelings about their school, describe their daily SMC experiences, and just give their time to creating a virtual window for interested families to see what Saint Mike's had to offer. Reading their blogs and getting glimpses into their lives gave me insight, not only into life at Saint Mike's, but college life in general, and how great it could be.
I hope that, whether you're a parent, a SMC student, or just a high school senior or junior trying to find the college that will fit you best, I can do what I do best, and help you out as much as I can :) Please never hesitate to ask me a question on Formspring or send me a tweet on Twitter!!
Until next time, I send you all my best wishes!!
