if i am bringing a tv, do i need to bring a cable as well? and do you recommend using an ethernet cable when in your room to get better reception? does the room come with one of those too or do i have to buy one?

Yes, you do need a cable to connect your TV to your cable jack. I definitely would recommend an ethernet cable- while wireless is really good in the dorms, in case of emergency, like the network goes down or is being fixed, you always have access to the internet. You actually have to buy both cables, which are available at the campus bookstore :)
